Is Ellen Pompeo Leaving Grey's Anatomy?

Doctors come and doctors go at Seattle Grace Hospital but would Grey's Anatomy be the same without . . . Dr. Meredith Grey?

Like T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl before her, there is buzz that Ellen Pompeo may leave the hit ABC show. Although rumor became reality for her former costars, the new mom is quick to clarify her possible exit.

"I haven't said I'm moving on," she tells Extra. "I said that when my contract is up after season 8 in two years, I would probably not renew. I think the world has had a lot of Meredith Grey."

As for the upcoming season finale, Pompeo only reveals that "anything that can happen will happen, and everything that can happen will happen."

Does that mean someone will die? According to Pompeo's costar Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Bailey, it does.

"Of course," she told Fox and Friends, "It's Grey's Anatomy!"

During an interview by TV Line Pompeo was asked about the next Season of the Grey’s Anatomy show. Her response was unexpected. Pompeo noted that no one has been asked to join Season 8 yet. Therefore she cannot presume that there will be a Season 8 or that she will be apart of it.

As most of us know, Katherine Heigl has quit the show. There are rumors of others possibly leaving the show. Patrick Demsey’s contract with Grey’s Anatomy is up soon. For Grey’s Anatomy fans it leaves us wondering if there will be a Season 8 and if so who will remain on the show. It appears not even Ellen Pompeo knows how or if the who will end.
