WHICH NUDE LIPSTICK IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

So the rage has been a natural everyday finish in the form of nude lipstick. First my cousin was wearing it, and I personally did not think it would fit right with me because of my ever-changing skin color throughout the year. Then my friend got a lipstick the other day for herself, which seriously made me look into buying my own shade for myself.

At the MAC counter yesterday at Nordstrom in the Galleria, I decided to try on a few shades for myself. I always ended up picking the more sheer, glittery type nude shades until the lady working at MAC suggested a more matte nude lipstick with a matching nude gloss. I instantly fell in love with it! The satin matte lipstick is called Spirit $14.50, which is a muted pink beige brown that can work for many skin tones. The matching lipglass I got with it is called Wildly Lush $18.50, which gives a complimentary vanilla flavor to the lips. I also found out that this lipglass plumps and moisturizes the lips with Vitamin E for extra environmental protection.

If you're fair skinned like Scarlett Johannson...

Use a rosy, pink tinted lipstick nude lipstick. Picks: Smashbox's Flawless $22, Clarin's Rouge Hydra Nude Lipstick 02 Nude Coral $24.

If you have golden skin like Mila Kunis...

Use a light, creamy base nude lipstick. Picks: Creme d'Nude by MAC $14, Lancome Color Fever Shine #204 $25.

If you're olive skinned like Eva Mendes...

You can use practically any nude color! Picks: Revlon's Nude Attitude $6, MAC's Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick in Box Nude $14.50.

If you have dark skin like Gabrielle Union...

Try a rich, gold brown lipstick. Picks: Bobbi Brown's Cocoa $22, Givenchy Rouge Satin Lipstick in Gold Brown #15 $25.

When wearing nude lipstick, remember to choose a color that's 2 shades within your natural lip color or else it wouldn't be considered a nude lipstick look anymore. Make sure there's no dead skin residue on your lips, and apply balm before applying the nude shade since it can become chalky. To finish up the look, apply a neutral gloss over the lipstick for a complete nude lipstick finish.

Don't choose a nude color lighter than your natural skin color, it's only going to make you look washed out and don't use lipliner with the look unless it's the exact same color.

Now that you have all the information you need, try and find a nude lip color suited for your unique self. There is plenty of help at make-up counters to help you decide which look is best for you, so don't be afraid to experiment. Who said nude wasn't for everyone?!

SUITe OBSESSION!

Who says ladies can't hang with the guys? During red carpet events, men usually don suits BUT now the ladies are taking this attire to another level.

Lady suits are meant to flatter the womanly figure in a clean, crisp way. It's important to have the suit tailored well and have that one signature piece stand out to make the entire look unique.

When wearing a black pant suit, it's important to find a detail that is different than the average pant suit since black is the common color. Though you don't have to go too far with puffy shoulders like Rihanna, having a more structured shoulder area, and even pairing it with a shorter pant can show some edge and leg at the same time. Another alternative is having one fashion statement along with the pant suit. It can be a bold heel such as the glitter shoes Anne Hathaway paired with her suit, or a long necklace like Jennifer Aniston.

When wearing a white pant suit, don't over-do the look. Wearing all white can be too clean, but a subtle change in detail can make a great statement in itself. Something as simple as wearing a bold lipstick to off-set the blank white canvas is great such as Katy Perry. Or if you want to keep it very simple, just add some cute shirt/camisole/tank under your jacket like Mila Kunis.

A must do when wearing a pant suit is to put your hair up, what's best is a clean ponytail. Keep the hair soft and flowy to work opposite the fitted suit attire. Show off your confidence and beautiful face in a bold pank suit and work it better than your male counterparts!

OSCAR 2011 FASHION!

The biggest awards ceremony took place last night at the Nokia Theatre. The big night brought on the A-game of many celebrities, most notably the women! A trend for the night that is making it's appearance into Spring is the color Red (and it's different shades) along with the one-shoulder dress trend that is more defined. This Spring season calls for nothing but FLAIR.

Congratulations to Natalie Portman for winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal in "Black Swan." She truly deserved it and it's so nice seeing her experience so many great things simultaneously: recognition for her craft, pregnancy, and love with her fiance.

Hands down best dressed of the night right when I saw her was Mila Kunis. She wore a lilac colored Elie Saab gown that was so dreamy. The detailing of lace in the low cut chest area was not overtly provocative because of the flowy detail of the entire look. She looked so beautiful and her hair and make-up was perfect with this dress, nothing overpowering, but it made a strong statement together that definitely got her noticed.

But what really had people buzzing were the many outfit changes of co-host Anne Hathaway during the 3 hour broadcast. Was it really necessary to change that many times? Regardless, she looked amazing in all of them and it was refreshing to see new faces hosting the biggest awards ceremony. Seeing Anne on-stage with her confidence emitted a genuine feeling of gratitude for the opportunity she was given. GO GIRL!

Golden Globes Fashion Recap 2011

The Golden Globes were on last night, and nothing's better than tuning into the red carpet to see all the latest fashion trends. This year, the ladies wore an array of dresses. Most popular trend I noticed are wavy hair, fitted clothing, and a lot of color. Let's see some of the most memorable dresses of the night...
Natalie Portman: she indeed was glowing, but that Viktor & Rolf silk dress had a beautiful fresh color, but that red rose plastered on the middle of the dress immediately cheapened the look of the dress.
Julianne Moore: this hot pink Lanvin gown is beautiful with the jewel undertones, but that sleeve on the dress is unnecessary. It looks likes her arm should be in a sling.
Emma Stone: she surely has the looks and body to pull off this body hugging peach Calvin Klein dress, but this choice seemed too plain for her bubbly personality.
Catherine Zeta-Jones: she looked absolutely stunning in this emerald green Monique L'Hullier gown. Not only does this color stand out with its great structured tier design, but she truly looks like a Hollywood stunner.
Halle Berry: undeniably best body in Hollywood, this M&S corset black dress doesn't fit the formal occasion of the Golden Globes, but she is still a head turner.
January Jones: this blood red Versace gown is showstopping, and it looks amazing on her. It took a lot of balls to put out the cleavage during winter, but she definitely pulls it off.
Anne Hathaway: this is my favorite dress of the night! Take this Armani prive gown with its rose gold color, big shoulders (my fave) AND backless makes this combination a winner! She looked like the A-List superstar she truly is.
Eva Longoria: always looking elegant, especially in this hugging black Zac Posen dress, she knows how to pull off simplicity and glamorous at the same time.
Angelina Jolie: this emerald green Versace number looks stunning on the ever-stunning Angelina, finally we see that color is actually her best friend too! This long sleeved, fitted gown adorned with Swarovski crystals speaks for itself.
Christina Hendricks: this busty actress caught everyone's attention in this hugging one shouldered red Romona Keveza gown. Too bad the ruffle is a maybe overkill to the dress, hiding her beautiful face.
Sandra Bullock: wearing Jenny Packham, this jewel encrusted gown would've gathered more attention if it wasn't for Sandra's bangs causing the controversy. Her hair hides her beautiful face and bubbly personality that we all know and love.
Olivia Wilde: this embellished Marchesa gown was truly fit for a young princess like Olivia. Her low maintenance do looks like she's not trying too hard to impress, though she does.
Jennifer Lopez: wearing Zuhair Murah white gown with a jeweled shawl covering, she looks stunning, minus the dress. Though she's a mother, it's too matronly, and puts a lot of years to her fresh face and bomb physique.
Mila Kunis: this emerald green Vera Wang asymmetric gown is stunning on beauty Mila. It's very fresh and and young, something that screams simple elegance at its best.

2011 is off and running! Trends we can expect to see more on the red carpet are jewel tones such as emerald green and blood red. Another returning trend is the big shouldered look, with fitted sleeves, and low backs.

Black Swan: A Review

Black Swan : so much hype centered around this movie. Not only does it have 2 of Hollywood's Hottest Actresses, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, but this movie has garnered much critical acclaim, can anyone say 4 Golden Globe Nominations?!
I can see the commotion this movie has caused. It was seriously the craziest movie I've seen in a while. This dark thriller really captivates the audience and leaves them in a stupor. So what's the deal with the Black Swan and the White Swan?
Black Swan is about ballerina Nina (Portman) who gets the coveted role of Swan Queen, in which she would have to play both the White Swan and Black Swan. The White Swan is the perfect role for Nina: innocent and delicate, and the role of Black Swan is the complete opposite: dangerous and seductive. Throughout the movie, Nina struggles to find the right balance between two roles. She sees the dark side of dancing with fellow ballerina star Beth (Ryder) who is suddenly replaced within the dance company and tries to kill herself.
Nina has a few twisted relationships in the movie. Her mother, once a ballerina, is very protective of Nina and tries to protect her from the harsh world of dancing and the cruelties of the real world. With Nina's immersion of the role, she finds herself tired of her mother's overbearing behavior, and wants to break free from her sheltered life. Nina becomes attracted to fellow ballerina Lily (Kunis) who embodies everything she's not: mysterious and a free spirit, qualities of the Black Swan. She believes that Lily is trying to get her role of Swan Queen, and envisions her as a threat, yet also fantacizes about her. The head of the dance company Thomas, tries to bring out the seductress of Nina by not only providing harsh criticism, but touching her sexually in order for Nina to open herself up to the role.
Nina is used to being a disciplined dancer and struggles to portray her role as the Swan Queen perfectly. This comes to her demise, as she find two sides of her competing: the innocent White Swan, and the evil Black Swan. Nina becomes her own worst enemy trying to embody this role to the best of her ability, something she wasn't able to handle. By the end of the movie, the Black Swan overpowers the White Swan, which leads to her death. Nina ended up playing out the story of the Swan Princess, literally where the Black and White Swan compete, and unto which the Swan Queen kills herself.
I would recommend this movie because of it's great complexity and dark story. There's not a lot of movies that can captivate you throughout the entire film and make you feel so involved in the plot. This movie is full of twists and turns, that you never know what to expect, and that's what I love about this movie. It feels so real, and it leaves you at the edge of your seat. Don't be fooled by the title, this movie brings it!
