Expensive Celeb Divorces

Expensive Celeb Divorces

he price of fame is most striking in the aftermath of scandal. A damage control campaign—staffed by a legion of lawyers, press representatives and aides—is expensive, but so is losing a high-power job and any hope of professional redemption. In the last five years, sex scandals have ended the careers of at least two governors, six Congressional members and one CEO, while countless others remain in office despite allegations, admissions or lawsuits . After all, the consequences of sex scandals aren’t fungible. Bill Clinton came out of his brush with scandal relatively unscathed, but it’s still unclear whether Tiger Woods’ career will ever return to the pre-Joslyn James glory days.

Tiger Woods

Pre-scandal title: Professional golfer
Scandal broke: November 2009
Estimated lost wages: $50 million

As the number of alleged mistresses climbed, the number of Tiger Woods' corporate endorsement deals fell. The golfer, who is the first athlete to reap $1 billion in lifetime earnings, sees the majority of his eight-figure annual earnings from brands that pay for him to promote their wares. But in the wake of the sex scandal and dissolution of his marriage, Gatorade, AT&T, Accenture, Gillette and Tag Heuer all cut Woods from their payrolls. To add insult to injury, his appearance fees dried up and, thanks to less-than-stellar golf course performances, so did his tournament winnings.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Pre-scandal title:Governor of California
Scandal broke: May 2011
Estimated lost wages: $12 million to $45 million

While rampant speculation has put the cost of his pending divorce from Maria Shriver at $200 million, the Governator is also facing the loss of his Hollywood comeback. Schwarzenegger had inked a deal to star in an upcoming film Cry Macho for a reported $12 million upfront fee. But he'll won't see the lump sum, or the payday from a Terminator sequel  anytime soon thanks to the revelation that he fathered an illegitimate child with a former employee. Also out of the question: an animated series, "The Governator," that was canceled.

Kobe Bryant

Pre-scandal title: Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard
Scandal broke: July 2003
Estimated lost wages: $4 million

In the aftermath of a sex accusation, the basketball star lost the financial blessing of McDonald's and Nutella, and Coca-Cola pulled ads featuring him (though the company said that had been planned pre-scandal). Of course, not all his endorsement contracts were revoked— Nike kept him under contract, but didn't use him for more than two years, despite his $40 million-plus contract. The criminal case against Bryant never went to trial but the civil case was settled out-of-court for a secret sum and a public apology to his accuser. Just a year after the scandal, he signed a $136 million contract with the Lakers. In the 12 months following the rape accusation, he earned $13 million from endorsements according to Forbes magazine.

Ted Haggard

Pre-scandal title: Pastor and President of the National Association of Evangelicals
Scandal broke: November 2006
Estimated lost wages: $500,000

Following allegations he had hired a male escort for years, the Colorado pastor resigned from his perch atop the church he founded and NAE. A severance package with New Life Church was reached, for a reported $138,000 per year, not including benefits, which matched his working salary. But, Haggard lost the six-figure salary from NAE, as well as book royalties from the 11 books he published pre-scandal (book sales fell precipitously after his public downfall). According to an HBO documentary, he now sells insurance. He told GQ magazine earlier this year, "I think that probably, if I were 21 in this society, I would identify myself as a bisexual."

Dominique Strauss-Kahn

Pre-scandal title: Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund
Scandal broke: May 2011
Estimated lost wages: $495,000

While the French public servant awaits arraignment, he's mounting quite a costly tab. His apartment, the second one he's occupied since leaving Rikers Island, reportedly costs $50,000 a month and his round-the-clock private security detail costs another $200,000 per month. Not only does the disgraced leader have to bear those outsize costs, but his $420,000 annual salary and $75,000 slush fund for keeping up a lavish lifestyle are history.

Eliot Spitzer

Pre-scandal title: Democratic Governor of New York
Scandal broke: March 2008
Estimated lost wages: $179,000

After his history as Client No. 9 was announced in newspaper headlines, Spitzer swiftly removed himself from office. Of course, the charges lost him a year of wages as governor, but he also faces up to $10,000 in fines over charges of misconduct. The scandal wasn't a total career-killer, though. The former governor joined the faculty of City College of New York in late 2009 and took a host post at CNN in 2010.

Christopher Lee

Pre-scandal title: U.S. Representative (R-New York)
Scandal broke: February 2011
Estimated lost wages: $174,000

Thanks to a bicep-baring photo Lee posted on Craigslist hoping for a hook-up, the former congressman withdrew from his post. While there were no charges of violent crimes, previous affairs or other transgressions, the publication of his online flirtations were enough to drive the married public servant from the limelight.

Mark Sanford

Pre-scandal title: Republican Governor of South Carolina
Scandal broke: June 2009
Estimated lost wages: around $3,300

The former governor of South Carolina gave a whole new meaning to "hiking the Appalachian Trail" when he tried to cover up a South American love affair by fabricating a camping trip. His wife divorced him and he resigned from the non-paying gig as chair of the Republican Governor Association. The cost of the scandal? Not much. He wrote the state's general fund a personal check for the $3,334 in costs paid for with taxpayer money during a June 2008 trip to Argentina. He didn't resign, but the House Judiciary committee censured him.

Bill Clinton

Pre-scandal title: U.S. President
Scandal broke: January 1998
Estimated lost wages: $0

Of course, the Lewinsky affair cost the former U.S. President dearly. He was impeached and stood trial for perjury and obstruction of justice, not to mention the $850,000 he coughed up to settle a sexual harassment suit from Paula Jones and the $90,686 he was fined for giving false testimony. But, Clinton didn't evacuate office and the scandal forced Republican illicit transgressions to become public.

John Edwards

Pre-scandal title: Democratic candidate for President
Scandal broke: October 2007
Estimated lost wages: $0

The biggest casualty in the Edwards affair may have been his presidential hopes. News of his affair with Rielle Hunter hit the tabloids when Edwards was campaigning full-time, and caused public opinion to sour on the picture-perfect former senator. He eventually withdrew from the presidential contest in May 2008 and said he would not accept the position of vice president even if it was offered. An anonymous source was quoted in Politico this week saying, "John needs money. He needs to work…"

Jane Seymour sorry for Schwarzenegger comments

Jane Seymour Apologizes for Speculating About Schwarzenegger Scandal

At the premiere of her new film 'Love, Marriage, Wedding,' Jane Seymour found herself speculating about the break-up of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger. She said she thought Schwarzengger was father to at least two more out-of-wedlock children, and predicted more information would soon surface. Friday on 'The View,' Seymour apologized for the remarks, and said she hoped she didn't add to the family's pain.

"I am so beyond sorry and appalled that I found myself even talking on the subject at all," said Seymour. "I just feel so badly for Maria and the children because I've been through similar kinds of stuff."
Seymour noted she didn't go out of her way to address the Schwarzenegger/Shriver relationship: her movie touches on similar themes and she was asked to comment. Still, she hopes the Shriver family will accept her apology.

Schwarzenegger to face criminal inquiry

Schwarzenegger to face criminal inquiry

As if Arnold ‘The Sperminator’ Schwarzenegger doesn’t have enough problems right now.

The Attorney General of California is holding a criminal inquiry into allegations the former governor used tax money to cover up his cheating ways.

The Department of Justice branch is conducting a preliminary evaluation into the dealings of Schwarzenegger in which he allegedly used his state funded security details to cover the women that were escorted to his hotel rooms.

Apparently, a security officer at the Sacramento Hyatt Regency hotel witnessed Arnie use his California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers to escort his skanks in and out of his hotel suite.

William Taylor, who worked security at the hotel told the National Enquirer that “It makes me very angry just to think of what was going on at that time.”

“On three differed occasions after the governor arrived alone at the Hyatt Regency, CHP Dignitary Protection Services arrived in their official vehicles, black Ford Crown Victoria sedans – about one to two hours later with one or two young females.”

“They’d hurriedly escort the women through the service entrance on the second floor parking garage to the elevator that went to the governor’s private wing… the women would usually stay for two to four hours and either leave through the hotel’s main entrance or be driven away by the CHP in the same official vehicles.”

No doubt the Attorney General’s office will speak with Taylor on this matter. Schwarzenegger’s public relations firm denies the charges.

Boy, someone certainly stepped into something stinky, didn’t they?

Katherine Schwarzenegger tweet

Katherine Schwarzenegger tweet
Katherine Schwarzenegger tweet. Katherine Schwarzenegger Tweet: Forgives Daddy Arnold?
t's been one "crazy" week for the Schwarzenegger family after learning that Arnold, the estranged husband to Maria Shriver and father to their four children, was keeping the secret of an affair and love child buried for a decade before finally "telling" Shriver about it once his position as Governor of California came to an end.

It all seemed like one huge, painful mistake on Arnold's part. He slept with a maid ten years ago and got her pregnant, never telling his family his "dirty little secret" or about the child he conceived and continued to care for behind the scenes during his time as governor. His wife Shriver is distraught - and left him - but what about his children?
We respect the privacy of the Schwarzenegger children at this time, but Katherine Schwarzenegger, the 21-year-old daughter of Arnold and Shriver, took to Twitter over the weekend and made some interesting posts. She tweeted over the weekend a post that was grabbed from another user:
"Sometimes we forgive people cause we want them back in our lives."

Katherine deleted that post on Monday before tweeting this message: "As my healing begins after this crazy week I ask for privacy!"

She later posted, "This is only the business of my family and please respect that!"

Whether Katherine is ready to forgive Arnold yet or not is entirely her call. Katherine was especially close to her father, so this news is probably very painful for her, as it is for her entire family. An example of her affection for her father can be seen in message she posted on Twitter for Father's Day last year:

"When I was younger and he was away on movie sets so much of the time, I didn't feel close to him," she wrote. "Since my father became governor, though, we've grown much closer, and it's not just because he's home more. Watching my father, talking to him these past seven years has brought me closer to him and has provided me with many bonding and learning opportunities. Daddy, I love you."

Forgiveness is healing, both for the giver and the recipient. As more news comes out that Arnold Schwarzenegger may have had even more affairs and possibly more children out of wedlock, it's uncertain when his family will forgive the "governator" for the pain he has caused.

palin schwarzenegger affair

palin schwarzenegger affair

Schwarzenegger's affair and she's saying things that almost everyone else feels. News that Arnold strayed from his marriage on several occasions and fathered at least one love child has people sick to their stomachs and shaking their heads at the former governor of California.

"I feel so bad for his children. It must be quite embarrassing for them....You know, it's an irresponsible and, really, a pretty disgusting thing that he did, pretty much denying that he had a child for ten years. That's how I look at it. It speaks to his character. It's sad," Palin said. Palin is absolutely right in calling the affairs embarrassing and disgusting. He has not only hurt his wife and kids, but also the child that he fathered with his former housekeeper. It is a huge mess that may even get uglier before it disappears from the news. He could have more children, there could be more women, and more celebrities and politicians are going to voicing their opinions on this disgraceful news.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver Announce Separation

It was a storybook marriage in 1986 on a spring weekend on Cape Cod that united a princess of an American political dynasty, Maria Shriver, and the gap-toothed muscle-clad movie star famous enough to be known by one name, Arnold.

In many ways, it was a pairing of opposites: Her uncle was a U.S. president; his father was an Austrian policeman. She was the rising star of a network TV news show; he was the pot-puffing star of "Pumping Iron." He was a Republican with a soft spot for Richard Nixon; her family was a pillar in the nation's Democratic establishment.

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Shriver announced their separation late Monday, cleaving a sometimes-turbulent 25-year relationship after "a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us," the couple said in a joint statement.

The breakup comes about four months after Schwarzenegger ended a bumpy, two-term run as California governor, a job his wife never wanted him to pursue. Since then, Schwarzenegger, 63, has been fashioning a role as an international advocate for green energy, giving speeches and lining up work in Hollywood. Shriver, 55, has guest-edited an edition of Oprah Winfrey's magazine but also talked about the stress of changing roles after serving as California's first lady.

The joint statement, issued by a spokesman for Schwarzenegger, said the two were working on the future of their relationship while living apart and they would continue to parent their four children - Katherine, 21, Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13.

"After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together," the statement said.

It was not clear from the statement if either remained at their gated, canyon estate in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, or whom the children were with. Schwarzenegger's spokesman, Daniel Ketchell, said he wouldn't answer questions beyond what was said in Monday's statement.

The former governor tweeted frequently during his recent travels to Brazil, Nigeria and France, but Shriver was not mentioned in his online updates from the road. Shriver, also active on social networks, posted three updates on her Twitter page on the day of their 25th wedding anniversary, April 26, but did not mention the milestone.

About a month before the anniversary, Shriver wrote on her Facebook page that she was going through a transition in her life.

"As you know, transitions are not easy. I'd love to get your advice on how you've handled transitions in your own life," she said in a video posted on YouTube.

"It's so stressful to not know what you're doing next. People ask you what are you doing and then they can't believe that you don't know what you're doing," she said.

Schwarzenegger has often said that Shriver, who is keenly attuned to the risks of a life in politics, initially was very upset about his plan to run for governor. But when Schwarzenegger announced his decision on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in August 2003, he said his wife stood by his decision.

During Schwarzenegger's time in office, Shriver and the couple's children never moved to Sacramento, preferring their secluded estate a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Schwarzenegger never settled in Sacramento, choosing instead to commute by private jet between his home and the state capitol.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver long presented a gilded partnership that crossed politics, Hollywood and media. They are known for charitable work, and he also founded a committee with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell to encourage road, bridge and other infrastructure development.

Shriver, the daughter of the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, left her job as an NBC News correspondent after Schwarzenegger took office.

In a May 2009 commencement speech at the University of Southern California, Schwarzenegger alluded to the powerful influence Shriver had on his life. He said when people ask him the secret to success, "I say, number one, come to America. Number two, work your butt off. And number three, marry a Kennedy."

As the state's first lady, Shriver ran an annual women's conference that attracted a long list of business, political and entertainment luminaries, along with an audience of thousands. She also was credited with overhauling the California Museum in downtown Sacramento, and, with Schwarzenegger, starting the California Hall of Fame.

In 2007, Shriver said she wouldn't resume a TV news career after the media circus surrounding Anna Nicole Smith's accidental drug overdose.

"It was then that I knew that the TV news business had changed and so had I," she said at the time. In a 2009 interview with The Associated Press, she said "I'm too much of a free spirit" to consider running for elective office.

Shriver stood by her husband during his campaign after the Los Angeles Times reported accusations that he had a history of groping women; Schwarzenegger later said he "behaved badly sometimes."

The breakup comes months after the death of Shriver's father, Peace Corps founder and former vice presidential candidate Sargent Shriver, in January.
