Can Salman Khan’s film Ready repeat the magic of Dabaang. In 2011 this is Salman Khan’s first film to be released. The date of release had been 3rd June, 2011. The expectation of the viewers had increased after Salman Khan had provided 150 crores business to bollywood industry with the film Dabaang last year.

Ready has been directed by director Aneez Bazmee. Asin had been cast opposite Salman Khan in the film. The film had been a remake of Tamil film Ready directed by Sreenu Vaitla in which Ram and Genelia Desouza played notable roles.

The supporting roles had been performed by Arya Babbar, Paresh Rawal, Mahesh Manjrekar and others. Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Kangana Ranaut, Zarine Khan played guest roles in the film. The music had been composed by composer Pritam. Already the song “humko pyar hua” had been well received by the viewers even before release of the film. The film had been shot in Sri Lanka.

The big challenge the film has to recoup the Rs 55 crores that had been invested. Dabaang had a very unique storyline. The casting also was new. Sonakshi Sinha acted opposite Salman Khan for the first time. Pritam has huge challenge to meet the success of Sajid Wajid in Dabaang. Last year Aneez Baazmee’s film No Problem could not get revenue inspite of star performers like Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt providing successful performances.

The film will be released on 3rd June, 2011. The bollywood industry is desperately waiting for a blockbuster this year. Nothing can be better if Salman Khan comes up with one more with Ready.

The Annual Stardust Awards 2011 was telecast on Sony Max Channel on 20th February, 2011. Sajid Khan and Shreyas Talpade had hosted the show. Shreyas Talpade imitated a number of stars namely Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshya Kumar, etc. Salman Khan won the best actor award for his brilliant performance in the film Dabaang. It was titled Star of the Year award.

The big celebrities attended the show and gave memorable performances as well. Katrina Kaif performed in the ceremony, for the “Sheila”. Salman Khan performed for the songs of the film Dabaang and Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Rekha performed for her “Moulin rouge” song from Parineeta. Neha Dhupia performed in the program. Sonakshi Sinha danced in the program on the song of Dabaang.

Amitabh Bacchan was given special award for his 42 years contribution in bollywood films. The award was given to him by Madhuri Dixit. The Search light winner of best actor award was Rishi Kapoor for Do Dooni Char. Neetu Singh also won the award for Do Dooni Char. Sunil Shetty also won the award under the same category. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai won the awards for the film Guzaarish.

Ranvir Singh won the Superstar of Tomorrow award in the male category for his performance in the film Band Baaja Baarat. Arbaaz Khan received the best director award for the film Dabaang on behalf of Abhinav Kashyap, who came later. Arbaaz Khan later handed on the award to him.

Dabanng had more or less swept across all the awards including Starscreen awards, Star Dust Awards, Filmfare Awards, etc. Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan should continue their good work in the years to come.

Salman Khan received the best actor award for his epic performance in the film Dabaang. Salman Khan had very bad luck in respect of receiving awards. He had not received any filmfare award or starscreen award for the best actor inspite of giving blockbusters one after other like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Wanted, etc. At last viewers are happy that Salman Khan had received Starscreen award for the best actor.

Vidya Balan in the recent times is emerging out as another potentially powerful actress like Dimple Kapadia or Tabu. She won the best actress award for her brilliant performance in the film Ishqiya. Arshad Warsi won the award for the best supporting actor for his performance in the film Ishqiya. He had the hard task to balance the powerful performance of Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan. Shernaz Patel won the award for the best supporting actress for her brilliant performance in the film Guzarish.

Sajid Wajid had won the best composer award for their splendid music composed in the film Dabaang. They had done great job in other films like Veer, Tumko Bhoola Na Payenge, Wanted, etc., but never got the reward for their great work. They really deserved it. Shankar Ehsaan Loy also won the Starscreen award the best composer for their composition of music in the film My Name is Khan. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan received the award for the best singer for the song “takte rehte jisko saanjh sawere” in the film Dabaang. He sang the other song “sajda” in the film My Name is Khan equally well. Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal sang the duet song “tune to palbhar me chori kiya re jiya” in the film Dabaang extremely well. There is only one award, so Sonu Nigam lost it to Rahat Fateh Ali in 2011. Shreya Ghoshal won the award for the best female singer for the song “bahara” in the film I hare Luv Stories.

With a business of more than 150 crores, Salman Khan, the actor, Sonakshi Sinha, the actress, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Khan the producers of the film Dabaang had been the greatest winners of 2010. The director Abhinav Kashyap had utilized the team of Dabanng including the composers Sajid Wajid, actors Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjarekar and singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal to their best capabilities. The other hit films of the year included Rajneeti, Housefull, Ishqiya, Golmaal 3 and Peepli Live.

To everyone’s surprise the big budget films like Raavan, Kites, Guzarish collapsed at the box-office. Tees Mar Khan had got a good opening. After few weeks it will be seen whether it ends up as hit or not.

Priyanka Chopra had a bad year with all her films ending up in flops including Pyaar Impossible and Anjaana Anjaani. Hrithik Roshan’s two films also flopped including Kites and Guzarish, but his acting in Guzarish had been appreciated. Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif had a decent year with one hit each including Golmaal 3 and Rajneeti. Ranbir Kapoor had a good year with his hit film Rajneeti, but his other film Anjaana Anjaani did mediocre business. Anil Kapoor’s No Problem also ended with mediocre business.

Ashutosh Gowarikar’s project Khelenge Hum Ji Jaan Se flopped and that was the biggest loss of the powerful director who had given super hit films like Jodha Akbar in the past. Akshay Kumar had both hits and flops in the year. While Housefull became hit, Khatta Meetha and Action Replayy flopped. Aishwarya Rai also had a number of flops in the year. It started with Raavan, continued with Action Replayy and ended in Guzarish. Abhishek Bacchan’s both the films Raavan and Khelen Hum Je Jaan Se flopped at box-office.

Ajay Devgan was another winner of the year. He had hits like Rajneeti and Golmaal 3. His other two films like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and Atithi Tum Kab Jayoge did decent business. “munni badnam hui” and “shiela, shiela ki jawani” were the biggest hit songs of the years, both being item numbers.

Salman Khan after giving the greatest business of bollywood of the year 2010, with the success of film Dabaang had won the Star Entertainment Award 2010 for the best actor of the year. He won it to everyone’s surprise. He did not attend the award ceremony shown in Star Plus Channel, but his brother Arbaaz Khan and his wife Malaika Arora Khan took the award on his behalf. He said that he was surprised that Salman Khan had no luck in getting best actor awards previously inspite of giving huge blockbusters in the last 20 years. Vidya Balan won the best actress award for her brilliant performance in the film Ishqiya.

Veteran actor Dharmender won life time achievement award for his immense contribution in bollywood films. Jeetender and Asha Parekh presented the award. Amitabh Bacchan won the actor of the decade award. Aishwarya Rai won the actress of the decade award.

Ranbir Kapoor won the star entertainment award for the best young talent of the decade. He did not attend the ceremony but Rishi Kapoor received the award on his behalf. Priyanka Chopra won the star entertainment award for the best young female talent of the decade.

The best director of the award was won by Abhinav Kashyap for his direction in the film Dabaang. The award for the most entertaining film of the year was also won by Dabaang. It was very obvious that after doing a business worth Rs 150 crores it would emerge as the greatest winner.

The director of the decade award went to Raju Hirani. The most entertaining film of the decade went to the film The Three Idiots. There were some good star performances of Rani Mukherjee and Akshay Kumar. The awards rewarded the better performers for their hard work.

She was very successful in the film Barsaat opposite Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol started his career with that film and it was produced by Dharmender. The music was impressive. Twinkle Khanna expressed her romantic feelings very well in the film. The viewers accepted the pair of Bobby Deol and Twinkle Khanna. With the success of the film in the early 90s, Twinkle Khanna became a readymade choice for any type of film.

She acted with Shahrukh Khan in the film Badshah. Just like other films of Shahrukh Khan the film was based on fantasy and funny acts. Twinkle Khanna played her part very well in the film. The song “humto diwane hue yaar” became superhit. Twinkle Khanna also acted in the comedy film Joru Ka Ghulam with Govinda. As the name suggested, the film was related to the story of how a groom became obsessed with the bride and almost became her servant. Although the term was used in the literal sense, Govinda’s character proved the title of the film. Johnny Lever did well in the film.

Twinkle Khanna got a challenging role in Amir Khan’s film Mela. The story was related a girl being chased by dacoits and how she was saved. Amir Khan’s own brother acted in the film. The other challenge was matching Amir Khan’s acting performance in the film as in most of his films he had strived to reach perfection in the respective roles. The viewers accepted Twinkle Khanna’s performance opposite Amir Khan in the film.

Probably Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai with Salman Khan was the most successful film of her career. The film was shot in UK, Switzerland and other European Countries. All the songs of the film were super hit including “o jana”, “is dil me kya hai”, “pehli pehli baar”, etc. In the film the love of Salman Khan for her reformed Salman Khan’s character, who was a playboy before that. Twinkle Khan looked gorgeous in the film.

Twinkle Khan in a number of films opposite Ajay Devgan also in the late 90s. She had acting in her blood, as her mother Dimple Kapadia is considered one of the greatest actresses of bollywood films with landmark performances in films like Lekin, Prahar, Krantiveer, Sagar, Rudali, to name a few. Besides her father Rajesh Khanna was a superstar of the 70s.

When Twinkle Khanna looked like dethroning Juhi Chawla, Preeti Zinta or Kajol in bollywood films, she married Akshay Kumar and ended her career. In 2010, he had given the greatest hit Dabanng, which had done business of more than Rs 150 crores.

He created an impression before the viewers with his romantic film Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989. After that he had acted in every type of film including comedy films, action films etc. His musical blockbusters include Khamoshi with Manisha Koirala, Andaz Apna Apna with Amir Khan, Karishma Kapoor and Ravina Tandon, Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai opposite Twinkle Khanna, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega opposite Preeti Zinta, to name a few.

He build a manly body from the early part of his career and from that time became the role model of many youngstars of the country. His action films included Auzaar with Shilpa Shetty, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge with Diya Mirza, Tere Naam, Karan Arjun opposite Mamta Kulkarni, to name a few. If his films in 2008 can be analyzed it can be said that his film Heroes with Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Preeti Zinta, had done best business so far. The films God Tussi Great Ho did average business and the film Yuvvraaj could not rise up to the hype that was created by strong promotion of Subhash Ghai. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s performance had been well appreciated by the film-lovers and the film had created aesthetic values with innovative music and good locations. In 2010 his upcoming film Veer has both romantic elements and action elements as well.

His television show Dus Ka Dum in Sony Channel got fantastic response. The leading actors of bollywood films including Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Jeetender, Tusshar Kapoor, Amir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, all appeared in that show and Salman Khan helped all of them for the promotion of their films that were released this year.

Govinda came to limelight with his impressive performance in the film Ankhen along with Chunkey Pandey. Both Govinda and Chunkey were thrown out of their homes by their father Kader Khan, due to their mischievous acts. They witnessed the kidnapping of the CM played by Raj Babbar. In his place another person was brought who had similarity in looks. Govinda and Chunkey saved the CM and killed the imposter.

Govinda had a brilliant relationship with director David Dhawan. David Dhawan had used Govinda in most of his comedy films, and the dance performance and comedy performance of Govinda charmed the audience. His film Hero No. 1 with Karishma Kapoor became super hit. All the songs of the film including “sona kitna sona hai”, “mai to raste se jaa raha tha”, became very popular. The other films of Govinda like Aunty No.1, Cooli No. 1, also showed his charishma in comedy acting.

Govinda also acted in serious films like Andolan with Sanjay Dutt. He played the role of an engineer who had to compromise with the corrupt builders while building bridges. His revolt against the system was the subject matter of the film. He acted in a number of films with Sanjay Dutt and most of the films did good business. The songs of the film like “do you want a partner”, “you are my love” became super hit, and Govinda’s dance performances in those songs were excellent. Salman Khan asked the director David Dhawan to increase the role of Govinda in the film, and he justified it by playing his character in style.

Govinda played his role in the film Salaam-e-Ishq in style. The film had all the leading actors of bollywood industry including Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Sohail Khan, John Abraham and Akshay Khanna. In that league of actors Govinda proved his worth by romancing with a foreigner girl who was given shelter by a taxi-driver.

In 2009, Govinda’s films Life Partner, and Do Not Disturb with Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta, did mediocre business. He acted well in his small role in the film Raavan in 2010, and the viewers expect another cameo in the sequel of Partner. Viewers expect that with his busy work as a politician, as he was an MP elected with a Congress Ticket, he can still devote time for films and continue the work of entertainment in the years to come.

Dia Mirza, better known as Dia Mirza Handrich, was born on December 9th, 1981. She was runner up in Miss India 2000 Beauty contest.

She was the daughter of German interior designer named Frank Handrich and Bengali mother named Deepa Handrich. Her father died and her mother remarried Ahmed Mirza, and she retained the surname of her second father. When she entered films her initial ventures like Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Deewanapan did not impress the viewers to that extent.

But her film Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, opposite Salman Khan, became very successful. Salman Khan and his friend were brilliant shooters. They were used by the home minister to kill his rivals. At that time Salman Khan was fired by his friend, he drowned in water and lost his memory. He was associated with Sushmita Sen in the first part of the film.

In the second part Salman Khan was saved by some strangers who lost their child in war. So they accepted Salman Khan as their son. Dia Mirza used to visit the family and in that way got emotionally attached with Salman Khan. She said it and although Kulbhushan Kharbanda declined to get his son married to Dia Mirza, Abhishek Bacchan, his son married Dia Mirza as the truth shook his conscience.

She was impressive in her role in Shootout at Lokhandwala. But her appearance in films like Fight Club – Members only, or Cash did not impress the viewers to that extent. Her looks reflect the decency of urbanized young girls of good families. Whenever she had tried to play ultra-modern roles it did not pay her to that extent. Roles which suit Esha Deol or Shamita Shetty does not necessarily suit Dia Mirza.

She is presently working for the film Kabhi Bhi Kahin Bhi. The viewers feel that she has to be more choosy in selecting roles in future to stay in the race where Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai had crossed some distance. She had impressed the viewers with the film Mai Hoon Na opposite Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh Khan came to find his own brother in an educational institution after a long time. He started his career as an anti-hero.He started his career in Sunil Dutt's film Man Ki Meet in 1968. Then he acted in landmark films like Purab Aur Paschim, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Saccha Jhoota. He played the role of a villain in the film Aan Milo Sajna, where Rajesh Khanna was the lead actor. He also acted in negative role in Shammi Kapoor’s film Jaane Anjane opposite Leena Chandravarkar. He acted in landmark roles in Gulzar's film Mere Apne in 1971. In Gulzar's film Achanak in 1973, his film was based on the real life story of KM Nanavati versus State of Maharashtra, the story of an army officer who was enraged by grave provocation.

With the advent of action films in the mid-70s, Vinod Khanna became a dominating figure in bollywood films. Big B’s appearance in the film Zanjeer created a fair competition between Vinod Khanna and Big B.

Salman Khan’ s Dabaang is all set to break the record of The 3 Idiots. The film had been released few days back. Within the first weekend the film had earned around Rs 50 crores in one week.

The record is very significant considering the immense success of the 3 Idiots in the last year. The film had done business of more than 200 crores and set a all time record in the history of bollywood cinema. Dabaang has to go a long way to actually equal the record of The Three idiots.

But Salman Khan can be very happy about the proceedings. Firstly he had come up after the debacle of the big budget film Veer which did mediocre business. Secondly the news of Katrina Kaif leaving him and getting separated had been made public. In that scenario Salman Khan required a super hit film desperately. Dabaang had answered his critics.

He had played the role of a corrupt police officer in the film. Vinod Khanna did a great job in the role of the step father. Dimple Kapadia played the role of his mother and had shown that she had not forgotten her acting instincts. Arbaaz Khan the producer of the film, played the role of his brother. Salman Khan had left the house after the death of her mother Dimple Kapadia.

But after he met Sonakshi Sinha, the daughter of Shatrughun Sinha, his life changed. Om Puri, Sonu Sood and Anupam Kher were brilliant in their own roles. The music of Sajid Wajid was brilliant. Especially their song “tere mast do nain” sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had become super hit. Recently in the program of Little Champs, Sonu Nigam had invited Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to be the judge and sing few songs. He had made Sonu Nigam also spellbound with his independent harkats. The "it couple" of Bollywood, that is Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have parted ways. In an interview to Headlines Today, given on 18th August, 2010, Salman confessed that the two have indeed moved on.

"I have broken up with Katrina. We were friends then for everybody, we are friends now," Salman said.

Reasoning the break up Salman said, "Koi cheez tootati hain toh isliye kyonki ya to different ways chali gayi hain, ya ek shakhs ki growth nahin hui, ya ek ne kuch aur path chun liya hai, ya sensibility samajh mein nahi aati, ya thinking galat ho gayi hain (A relationship breaks if it gets stretched in different directions, or one person does not grow, or the other person takes a different path, or there is some misunderstanding) or they have grown out of love."

"So there are different interferences, the parents perhaps... or the interference of anything," he said, adding, "It's just two people not getting along, something that obviously doesn't end peacefully. But if you can manage to stay friends, there is nothing like it."

Katrina however preferred to leave it to god rather than answering directly whether the two have actually parted ways. "I don't think any of us know the future. We always try and make plans and I have learnt from my experience that you really cannot make plans. God has made his own plans for you," Katrina said.

However, hinting that it could be a publicity stunt, Salman ended the chat saying, "Aapko bahut samay tak confuse rakhenge hum dono (Both of us will keep you confused for a long time)."

It is interesting to see, how the break up can influence the career of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Katrina Kaif had already given a blockbuster in the form of Rajneeti this year. But Salman Khan desperately requires a hit. May be Debaang can bring back his stardom.
