Priyamani had remained gorgeous actress of Malayali and other South Indian films for some time. Her original name was Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer. She is cousin of bollywood actress Vidya Balan.
She was born on 4th June, 1984 in Palakkad family in Kerala, but grew up in Bangalore. She had command in all the 4 dravidian languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu and Kannada. She started her career, after having short experience of modeling in Tamil film Kangalal Kaidhu Sei release in 2004.
She acted opposite actor Dhanush in the film Adhu Oru Kana Kalam. She stormed South Indian films with her strong performance opposite Karthi Shivakumar in the film Paruthiveeran for which she received national award for the best actress in 2006. Ameer Sultan directed the film.
She acted in a number of films in Malayalam and rose to fame in that language as well. Some of her notable films in that language included Pranchiyettam and The Saint in 2010, Puthiya Mukkam in 2008, Thirakkatha in 2008. She received Filmfare Best Malayalam Actress Award for that film in 2008.
