Even in 2008, Amir Khan’s film Ghajini was remarkable in nature. He played the role of a person who lost his memory every 20 minutes. He took revenge against the murder of his girlfriend, but he did it with his limitation in respect of the lost memory. He had played probably the role of his career. He came out with even greater hit film in 2009, The 3 idiots. The film had done more than 200 crores business till now. Even more than that the film directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, had a serious social message to give. The message is that the parents should not overburden the students with their own choices. Students should be allowed to specialize in the line they love and enjoy. Although filmfare awards had not been fare to Amir Khan, it does not matter for Amir Khan at all. Peepli Live, the new film that had been produced by him reinforced his brilliant stand. He actually had walked in the footsteps of tragedy king Dilip Kumar. In the last 5 years he had acted in least number of films. He had produced and directed very few films. But his films always were positively accepted by viewers.

Anusha Rizvi had directed the film with realistic endeavour. The film had been a satire related to the suicide committed by many villagers in Central India for many reasons. The role of the media had been criticized seriously in the film.

The actors and actresses who performed in the film did a brilliant job. Naseeruddin Shah, Raghuvir Yadav, Shalini Vatsa, Malaika Shenoy were matchless in the film. Many of the performers in the film had been adivasis of Madhya Pradesh. They hardly required to act. Whatever they had done was natural.

The song “mehengai dawan” sung by Raghuvir Yadav was also full of social message. The film had competed in Sundance Film Festival. The only thing that was subjected to criticism was the raw language used in the film.

Even then, to show realistic picture of many social issues in the country, the director thought that the words could not be replaced. Whatever may be the justification, the film had examined a number of social concerns.

In that respect it had been a brilliant effort. Viewers should watch the film.

Director Tahir Hussain died on 2nd February, 2010, after having a massive heart attack. He had been known as the brother of notable filmmaker Nasir Hussain and father of Amir Khan.

He was associated with Director Nasir Hussain from the early 60s. He even acted in a small role in the film Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai released in 1961. Dev Anand and Asha Parekh played the main roles in the film and the music of the film was composed by Shankar Jaikishan. All the songs sung by Rafi and Lata became super hit including “jiya ho, jiya ho jiya kuch bol do”, “yeh ankhe uff yumma”, “sau saal pehele”, “teri zulfonki”, etc.

Tahir Hussain produced the super hit film Carvaan in the early 70s. The performance of Jeetender and Asha Parekh amazed the viewers. The dancing capabilities of Jeetender and Asha Parekh were appreciated by the viewers. RD Burman’s music became super hit with Rafi, Lata and Asha’s songs like “kitna pyara wada”, “piya tu”, “dilbar” entertaining the viewers.

Tahir Hussain produced the film Anamika in the 70s with Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bacchan. Both Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bacchan used to be considered the most versatile actor and actress of the 70s. In 2008, he rocked bollywood films with his first film Jaane Tu Ya Jane Na. The film was produced by Amir Khan. Both Imran Khan and Genelia De Souza got very positive reviews from the audience. The music of the film was composed by Oscar Winning Composer AR Rehman. All the songs in the film became super hit, including “kabhi kabhi aditi”, “pappu cant dance”, “nazre milana”, etc. All the junior actors and actresses complimented Imran Khan in the film. In character roles Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah also did a great job.

After Jane Tu Ya Jane Na, Imran Khan switched off to action films. He played the role of a kidnapper in the film Kidnap. He kidnapped Sanjay Dutt’s daughter Minishha Lamba to teach Sanjay Dutt a lesson. The entire film was related to the struggle of Sanjay Dutt in rescuing his daughter. Imran Khan released Minnisha Lamba at the end of the film. The music of the film was also decent.

But after that none of Imran Khan’s film could create any attention. He acted in the film Luck along with Sanjay Dutt and others. The film did not do good business. Most of these films do not attract a large section of viewers who are not interested in action films. Except Salman Khan’s Wanted, none of the action films became hit in 2009.

There is no doubt that Imran Khan possesses a lot of talent. But if compared with the beginning that Ranbir Kapoor had got with 3 hits in two years, Imran Khan had started his innings in a slow pace. Some way or the other he requires to act in a hit film to be in the competition.

Sarfarosh was the film based on the story of an honest police officer who addressed the corruption existing in the police department itself and the other wings of the Govt. Sonali Bendre ably assisted Aamir Khan in his noble mission. Jagjit Singh’s song “husnwale” became very successful.

Her performance in Sunil Shetty’s film Bhai requires special mention. Although she loved Sunil Shetty like Pooja Batra but when she knew that Pooja Batra was also attached to him, she sacrificed her love. She died at the end of the film while fighting for the cause of Sunil Shetty. In fact she helped Sunil Shetty to learn urbanized style of living as he came from the hills and was uneducated.

She acted in completely different role opposite Shahrukh Khan in the film Duplicate. Shahrukh Khan played a double role in the film, one having an affair with Juhi Chawla while the other having an affair with Sonali Bendre. She acted opposite Shahrukh Khan who played the role of the smuggler. From the time the two characters interchanged Sonali Bendre expressed the astonishment in style. Her lips in the song “mere mehboob mere sanam” require special mention. Raj Kumar Hirani’s film The 3 idiots will break Ghajini’s record. Amir Khan’s Ghajini did the best business in December, 2008, earning more than Rs 200 crores. The 3 idiots being released exactly one year later, on 25th December, 2009, had earned Rs 30 crores within first 3 days, so has the indication of breaking Ghajini’s record.

Amir Khan took the moto of acting in less number of films but better films like Dilip Kumar. His philosophy is working to a big extent. The type of anxiousness exhibited by Amir Khan in The 3 idiots had amazed the viewers. On the first day of engineering class when Boman Irani was showing astronaut’s pen, he asked him why they not use pencils. The astronaut’s pen used to be given to the greatest engineer cum scientist. Ultimately Boman Irani gave it to Amir Khan.

The scene where Amir Khan took Sharman Joshi’s paralyzed father to Hospital and treated him, the viewers related themselves with Amir Khan. Besides Amir Khan did a cameo during the birth of the child of Kareena Kapoor’s sister. He used the local devices to generate electricity and used vacuum cleaner to convert into pump.

Sharman Joshi was brilliant in the scene where Boman Irani wanted him to be witness against Amir Khan and leave the institution. He cried and then jumped from 2nd floor to commit suicide. N. Raghaman was brilliant in the scene where he convinced his father Pariksheet Sahani about his talent relating to wild-life photography. He became a wild-life photographer even after completing engineering.

Kareena Kapoor was brilliant in the scene where she gave the keys of the locker room of the institution to the 3 idiots as against the interest of her father Boman Irani. The performance of each and every actor in the 3 idiots was no natural, that the viewers became spellbound. The songs like “all is well”, “zubi zubi”, etc., were impressive and picturized well.

Filmmakers should took lesson from The 3 idiots and make realistic films which touch the soul, as against larger than life images like Blue which are resulting in waste of money.

It is even strange that Shahrukh Khan who few days back said the way Amir Khan tried to promote his film in hindi this act was called “chichorapan”, he attended the same premiere. Rajkumar Hirani, the successful director of bollywood films, had experimented with Amir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, in the film The Three Idiots. Amir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi were college friends.

The story of the film was related to Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone, and the production was controlled by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In the film Madhavan and Sharman Joshi recollected an old bet they were involved with. The bet was related to a wedding that they would have crashed into and a funeral which went out of control.

They searched their college friend Amir Khan who was involved in an affair with Kareena Kapoor and also was rebuked by Boman Irani. After the college days, all of a sudden, Amir Khan disappeared. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi could not trace him.

The music of the film had been composed by Shatanu Moitra who had followed up his successes in Parineeta and Lage Raho Munnabhai. Later when Sourav Ganguly returned home he entertained Amir Khan. Amir Khan was offered a grand dinner at night in Sourav Ganguly’s house. Amir Khan invited both Sourav Ganguly and Dona Ganguly to Mumbai to attend the Premier of Amir Khan’s film The Three Idiots to be released during Christmas.

Just like Dilip Kumar, Amir Khan had been selective in choosing roles. Juhi Chawla acted in romantic films opposite all the leading actors of bollywood, including Rishi Kapoor in Bol Radha Bol and Eena Meena Dika, Anil Kapoor in Deewana Mastana, Jhoot Bole Kowa Kate, Amir Khan in Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, to name a few. She attracted the attention of the directors with her first performance in Subhash Ghai’s film Saudagar. She was excellent in the film 1942 – A Love Story opposite Anil Kapoor. It was the beginning of Tushar Kapoor also. Her films Yaadein opposite Hrithik Roshan and Ajnabee opposite Bobby Deol did average business. The only success at that time was the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham opposite Hrithik Roshan. Her performance in the role of princess Kaurwaki in the film Ashoka opposite Shahrukh Khan got severely criticized and her popularity decreased at that time.

Even her films Mai Prem Ki Diwani Hoon or Mujhse Dosti Karoge could not change her fortunes. At that period her performance in an off-beat role in the film Chameli brought her appreciation from the critics. She played the role of a prostitude in Sudhir Misra’s realistic film. None of Amir Khan’s films had failed in the last three years, so Kareena has a lot of hope in Three Idiots. Even Salman Khan is wanting to make a comeback with hit films through Mai and Mrs Khanna. If two of these three films become successful, Kareena can get back her number one spot which she lost in 2008 and her competitors like Priyanka Chopra gained in 2008. Critics had said several times that Kareena Kapoor has much more acting talent than Katrina Kaif, if she chooses right films and does well, she can still be in the rat race. He also carried on the legacy of Tragedy King Dilip Kumar of acting in less number of films and meaningful films. He started his career with the hit film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988 opposite Juhi Chawla.

His film had brought back the era of romantic films, after bollywood was loaded with action films for more than 20 years. The music of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak composed by Anand Milind and majority of songs sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik created history. The popular songs included “aye mere humsafar”, “papa kehte hai”, etc. The film did excellent business and Amir Khan became a star at the early part of his career.

From that time onwards Amir Khan acted in many romantic films like Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, opposite Juhi Chawla, Ishq opposite Juhi Chawla, Dil opposite Madhuri Dixit, Mann opposite Manisha Koirala. Being a relative of Nasir Hussain, Amir Khan showed his acting skills from the beginning of his career. He gave able lips in most of the songs of Udit Narayan and with passage of time showed his versatility in different types of films.

He did extremely well in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film Lagaan. Lagaan was based on the story of Indian farmers entering into a challenge with the British Govt. during the colonial rule. A cricket match was held between the British team and the Indian peasants. Amir Khan gave training to the rural Indians and ultimately won the match amidst odds.

Amir Khan was sublime in his performance in patriotic film based on the life Mangal Pandey and he did an excellent job in the film Sarfarosh. Even as a director he showed innovative vision by making a film on the subject related to children. The film Taren Zameen Par showed that every child in the world are special. They have their innovative qualities. The job of the teachers and the academicians should be to unearth their skills The songs in the film composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy were also sensational.

Even in 2008, Amir Khan’s film Ghajini was remarkable in nature. He played the role of a person who lost his memory every 20 minutes. He took revenge against the murder of his girlfriend, but he did it with his limitation in respect of the lost memory. He had played probably the role of his career. He is a very cultured actor and the viewers have lot of hope on the thoughtful personality for innovative ventures in the years to come.

Hrithik did a marvelous job in Jodha Akbar, while Amir Khan had amazed the viewers with his classic performance in the film Ghajini. Sometimes filmfare awards are given to some actors or actresses who are not even thought of by most section of the people. The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Imran Khan on 13th January, 2009. Imran Khan, the relative of Amir Khan had created a lasting impression in the minds of teenagers with the performance in his first film Jane Tu Yaa Jane Na.

Amir Khan produced the film keeping in mind the taste of the young generation of viewers. Imran Khan acted opposite Genelia D Souza, who was also another newcomer in the bollywood industry. The film was related to the life of Imran Khan, a rajput whose father Nasirruddin Shah believed in warfare.

His father Nasir died and Imran’s mother never disclosed the identity of his father and asked him to believe in non-violence. Imran was known for his peace-loving attitude in his college. He had an affair with Genelia but he could not say it to her.

Genelia was engaged with an egoistic person who even slapped her before marriage. She decided to go abroad to pursue her higher studies. Imran Khan went to the airport, broke the security over there and brought her on horseback. All the wishes of Nasir to see his son going to jail, riding on horseback, etc., the signs of rajputs, were fulfilled by his son.

The romantic theme of the film was enhanced by melodious and catchy music of AR Rehman. Songs like “kabhi kabhi”, “pappu cant dance”, etc., became the greatest musical hits of the year. The film stands in the list of the greatest hits of 2008.

Furthermore, Imran Khan has all the possibilities of bagging the filmfare best debutant award for his performance in 2008. Eve his other film Kidnap had a unique storyline. Imran Khan accepted the challenging of playing a negative role after one film, which other actors in his place would not have accepted.

He had kidnapped Sanjay Dutt, the father of Minissha Lamba in the film Kidnap, in respect of ransom. Sanjay Dutt communicated with him about the ransom. In that scenario actors like Imran Khan will compel veteran stars like Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Amir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan to do even better in the years to come to remain in competition. Amir Khan has been considered as the most thoughtful personality in bollywood industry. His films were seen by the audience like any religious site that is worshipped by devotees. The same thing had happened with Ghajini.

There was lot of curiousity in the minds of viewers about the film before it was released. Amir Khan himself told the journalists in press conference that he built the muscular body only to express the feelings of the mentally affected person in the film. It took more than 2 years to build the muscles.

When viewers watched the film they got flabbergasted with the performance of Amir Khan. He would have Oscar award for his brilliant performance had he acted in Hollywood films. There were stages where Amir Khan lost his memory every 15 minutes and looked helpless.

The character Ghajini in the film killed the girl friend of Amir Khan. Later on when Amir Khan wrote the name of his enemies in his body, he rubbed them off when he caught Amir Khan in a state of unconciousness. A young medical student helped Amir Khan to get back his memory.

The film took a turn in the last part where Amir Khan recovered after an iron rod was pierced in his body by Ghajini and he killed Ghajini with a heavy iron weapon. The last part was different from the South Indian version of the same film Ghajini.

The credit lies on Amir Khan in converting an otherwise simple film into a classic film. Already the film had brought revenues in India and oversees market of more than 200 crore rupees. It is still being exhibited in the leading halls all across the country and has the capability of bringing even more revenue.

It is quite unfortunate that the best performers in India never get the awards for best performances in Filmfare ceremony or other major Group awards that are given every year. Otherwise Shahrukh Khan would not have dominated bollywood films for the last 10 years.

It is evident in Ghajini that when an actor like Amir Khan puts in his heart, soul, body in the role played in the film the hard work gets rewarded in terms of the responses of the viewers. He is the best actor of the country at the moment and the popularity of Shahrukh Khan or Abhishek Bacchan cannot stop him from performing in even challenging roles in contemporary films.

If Taren Zameen Par was the best venture of 2007, then Ghajini was the most meaningful project of 2008. The viewers expect Amir Khan to explore himself more in his strive to reach perfection in bollywood films in future.

Yesterday, on 27th December, 2008, Lux Sabse Favourite Star Kaun awards were given. Stars like Deepika Padukone, Neha Dhupia, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and others performed on stage while the awards were given. Sajid Khan anchored the show with his wit and humour.

Although the awards were focused at the performance of 2008, when nominations were shown there were stars who did not contribute to bollywood substantially in 2008, yet were nominated as popular stars. In other words the performances of actors, actresses, comedians, composers and directors in the last few years were also taken into consideration while giving the awards.

Paresh Rawal received the best comedian awards surpassing Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav and Govinda who were also nominated for the award. Chunkey Pandey announced the award. Paresh Rawal had shown his versatility in many types of films including Sardar, Hera Pheri, Malamaal Weekly, Tamanna, to name a few, and he is considered as one of intellectual actors of modern films. Even if he did not receive the award he would still have been considered a versatile actor after Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah.

Katrina Kaif received the best actress or heroine award for the year. She got it as against Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Aishwarya Rai, etc., who were also nominated for the award. Katrina Kaif had worked very hard to develop her hindi, and after blockbusters one after the other like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, Namaste London, Welcome, Partner, Race, Singh is Kinng, etc., she is the uncrowned queen of bollywood at the moment. It was strange that Priyanka Chopra after performing in so many films like Fashion, Dostana, Chamku, God Tussi Great Ho, did not get a nomination at all. Viewers expect her to get nominated under that category when the filmfare awards will be announced next year.

Akshay Kumar received the award for the best actor (hero) as against Salman Khan, Shahukh Khan, Amir Khan and Big B. After a long time he received the recognition for his hard work. He sang a rap song also from the film Chandni Chowk to China.

Viewers are interested to see whether Akshay Kumar can end the domination of Shahrukh Khan in filmfare awards next year with his successful film Singh is Kinng. Shahrukh Khan had received 7 filmfare awards inspite of brilliant performances of Amir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Khanna is the passed. Many section of the crowds believed that Shahrukh Khan had rigged the filmfare awards with his influence.

Deepika Padukone received the best new-comer award against Ranbir Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut. She had stormed bollywood with the superlative performance in the film Om Shanti Om. Her performance was equally outstanding in Bacchna Aye Haseeno. Viewers are interested to see her martial art in Chandi Chowk to China.

In a nutshell the awards are just a beginning of recognition of some of the leading stars of bollywood. Composers like Vishal Shekhar, Pritam are yet to open their account in filmfare award and are expected to provide strong challenge to AR Rehman, Shankar –Ehsaan – Loy, Anu Malik next year. Whenever new actors and actresses and technicians receive awards bollywood gets more variety and encouragement for better performances. Lets hope the filmfare awards will be different this year from other years.
